Ever wondered what the exact number of units in any given alcoholic drink is?

Here is a sum to work it out.

Multiply the volume of drink (in ml) by the alcoholic strength by volume (ABV) and divide by 1000.

440ml can of beer
ABV 5%
Divide by 1000

440 x 5  = 2200 – 1000 = 2.2 units
